Every year, we buy a box of wildflower mix—one that contains a bunch of native plants to our area—and sprinkle them all around the place, hoping that they’ll take to the land. Most of them don’t, but it’s only a buck, and it’s not like we give them a lot of TLC compared to the rest of our plants—like the edible stuff or the compost.
If native Oklahoma wildflowers are what you are after, you might want to get yourself some seeds of the following flowers. You might want to give them a little more attention than I tend to give!
- Black Eyed Susan (one of my favorites!)
- Tall Thistle (this looks like the stuff Thumper eats on Bambi)
- Spider Milkweed
- Yarrow
- Wax Goldenwed
